Christmas Cards

The Christmas cards are finally starting to trickle in. I wondered. Usually we get a few a day or two after Thanksgiving, but perhaps Thanksgiving was just so early this year. I love getting Christmas cards. They transform common mail into something special, especially those that are handmade or that include the newsy letters.

Some people hate those letters, but I love them. For military folks, it's a great way to keep up with what's happening with friends far away. So many of our friends are far away!

If you're on the fence about sending cards, I encourage you to go ahead, take the time. Transform someone's common mail into something special for the holidays.

  1. We really enjoy and appreciate both Christmas cards, and also the letters. I've been typing on our letter today, and hope to begin addressing over the weekend. We only have 5 so far, so ours are a bit slow, as well. Have a blessed weekend!

  3. My feelings exactly. They can be a chore to do, but I know how much I enjoy getting mine so do the same for others :)

  4. I love getting Christmas cards and I love the letters that come with some of them. It seems like most of the mail we get is bills or junk. It's so exciting to get a real card or letter! Email is a good way to keep up with friends and family but nothing like the warm fuzzy loved feeling that comes with a handmade card!

  5. I have always loved the Christmas letters the best! I would love when the one from my Uncle Rod would arrive. He wrote amazing letters but his penmenship was a bear to read.He used a fountain pen which made it even more challenging ;) But when I would see his envelope in the pile of mail, I would brew a fresh cup of coffee and sit and sip as I sorted my way thru his tales. Pure delight. He can no longer write those letters and I miss them. But I still cherish the memory.
