Reflect: God calls Moses, and Moses is
afraid. Who wouldn’t be? It’s so human to worry when God pushes us out of our
comfort zone! As Paul writes, when we’re called to God’s purpose, all things
will work together for good, but the path forward can be scary or just hard.
Very few people are called to do a job as big as Moses’ job, but even small
jobs for God can overwhelm and frighten us. Is God calling you in some way?
What excuses are you coming up with? How can you overcome your fear and take
that next step in your personal faith journey?
Recite the Week's Verse: Isaiah 41:13 For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, “Do not fear; I will help you.”
Pray: Gracious Lord, Help me grow in courage and faith so that my fear does not stop me from doing what is right in your eyes. Amen.
My fear of public speaking kept me from signing up to be liturgist for years. It was really alarming how often the request for volunteers to be liturgist was brought to my attention (thank you, Holy Spirit) before I finally took the plunge. Such a small thing, yet so scary. And for no good reason. What a blessing it is to read God's word in church aloud for God's people!
ReplyDeleteMoses' fear of public speaking makes absolute sense to me, LOL! How much more terrifying it must have been to be told to talk to a tyrant and ask him to let his slaves free!!!
